Getting Lost with LovesickLA

As I sit at home in the bitterly beautiful cold that is Northern New York weather, I'm recollecting on all the fun I had before I embarked on my third cross country road trip. Prior to Halloween, I shot with the incredible LovesickLA team once again. This is my third time working with Jose and Danika — who, by the way, make up my favorite power couple — and like always, I was blown away by the talent and expertise that they bring to the table with them.

We hiked a mere 5 miles up Big Santa Anita Canyon and got lost in the greenery. The forest was absolutely stunning and definitely was a nice break from the barren dessert wasteland that is LA, whichI was greatly appreciative of! But this time, while Jose was behind a video camera studying the behind the scenes action, Jade Sharp was running the show and, might I say, is an absolute pleasure to work with. Check out some of the photos from our expedition below!

I can't stress enough how incredible this team is. LovesickLA always brings true professional artists to the table and are by are the most considerate team I've ever worked with. I'll be counting down the days until our next adventure!

Be sure to check out LovesickLA on social media! I promise you, you won't get bored.
Click here for their Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!

I have also added a few more of my favorites from this shoot to my Portfolio and will be posting more periodically on my socials, so be sure to give those a look!

Some Birthday Fun-draisers

As some of you may or may not know, my birthday is coming up this Sunday. That's right, the big 19 on the 19th! Instead of simply ruining my diet with some cake, I decided to but my special day to good use with the help of Facebook.

Little did I know, Facebook has added a feature to the platform that allows you to endorse and help raise money for a charity of your choice for the month leading up to your birthday. Such a beautiful feature, in my personal opinion, and I'll absolutely be doing this annually!

This year, with International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day being on November 18th, I decided to help raise money for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. This foundation's mission hits a little too close to home, and I feel isn't given the attention it deserves. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, and effects millions each year. And while I realize my outreach is minimal, every little bit helps to a non-profit like this. Every bit donated is a gift that can save lives and fill an empty heart with hope.

Check out my birthday fundraiser on Facebook. Give it a share, help spread the world, help save a life. ❤️

Also, feel free to browse around the AFSP's website. This is a subject we could all use a little more knowledge on. Check it out at http://afsp.org.

As per usual, I'll be posting here with updates as they come! I've got a few things waiting in the queue, so stay tuned. Until then, feel free to check out my social media for live updates from yours truly.

That's all for now! x

Goodness, it's been a while! Over the past week I've been going through and making some changes to not only my social media, but to the site as well! In case you didn't notice, my name got just a smidge longer! As if it wasn't already long enough, right? But I've also added some new photos all over the site -- including a favicon, which I'm actually super proud of. You can find a few of them on my Portfolio, Stills, and Events pages. Check 'em out!

In other news, I most recently made a cameo on ABC's the middle. last Tuesday! You'll find me sitting behind Brick in class in episode #902, 'Please Don't Feed the Hecks'. If you have Hulu, check out the episode here! If you have Amazon Video, you can find it here.

And I know I always promise I'll update this more, but we both know that it usually never ends up that way. What I can promise, however, is the I will update the blog whenever something moderately interesting happens! So hopefully we'll have more blog posts coming very soon.

Va Va Voom - RE:VAVA Look Book

As I sit at home sick binge watching Shameless, I decided it would be a great time to update the website and do some blogging. Earlier this year I had the pleasure of shooting the SS17 lookbook for RE:VAVA Clothing with the incredible Joshua K and Josslyn Lee. Right in time for festival season, these boho chic looks are perfect for dancing around the desert.
We shot on location inside a little canyon somewhere in Santa Clarita to give the full vibe of that bohemian, gypsy lifestyle. It was cold, dirty, and couldn't have been more fun! Check out some of the photos from the look book below.

Shout out to the amazing beauty team behind the shoot for making Isabelle and I look absolutely incredible —  Justine of Let's Face it with Justine for the make up and Danika of LovesickLA for hair. This team was so kind and so fun to work with! Definitely looking forward to making some more magic in the future.

You can shop RE:VAVA online on their website or at Revolve Clothing!
I'll be periodically posting more photos from this shoot in my social media. Be sure to check it out!

You'll also be able to find these photos under the 'Portfolio' tab on the website. Look out for those and some other updates to the site including new media and new tabs! Click around, see what you can find.

I always say that it's better to be busy than bored! Words cannot describe how grateful I am for the how busy I've been in these past few weeks. But the busier I become, the farther I fall behind on my blog posts, and for that I apologize. I'll be doing my best within the next few weeks to post everything that I've neglected to and catch up to current events in order to keep you all up to date on my incredibly busy yet interesting life!

I had a blast shooting this promo spot for Instagram's new Stories update. You'll catch me in there at the end. Check it out!

Draw on Your Story from Instagram on Vimeo.

Be sure and follow my Instagram to check out my own personal stories and keep tabs on what I've been doing from day to day!

Photos from the Set of The Indoorman's Evolution and a Few Updates

PictureBTS of The Indoorman's Evolution
It's been quite a while since my last blog post, but for good reason! I recently took the plunge and officially picked up my life and moved to LA — there will be a post about that soon! — and I have been ridiculously busy trying to get this whole life thing started.
Trying to shoot whatever I can get my hands on has kept me wrapped up and I'm loving every second of it! I recently had the pleasure of working on NYFA student film, The Indoorman's Revolution, directed by Gengru Liu. The film is scheduled to be completed by the end of next month!  Many exciting things are in the works.
On a side note, I've made some changes to the website! If you roll over the Portfolio tab, you'l see two new pages; Stills, and Reel. While my reel is still in the works, that page is where you will be able to find it once it's complete. On the Stills page, you'll find behind the scenes shots and still frames from projects that I've been working on. The Portfolio page, however, will remain the home of my favorite and most recent modeling shots. Be sure to keep checking back to see when new photos are added!

Now that things are finally starting to settle in, I plan on keeping my blog up to date on all of the cool things that I'm up to whilst trying to build my career, so keep an eye out!

Peppermint's 4th Annual Sewn Seeds Runway Show

4/20/2016

Late last month I had the privilege of walking for Rochester's own Peppermint boutique in their 4th Annual runway showcase. Peppermint Sewn Seeds is a runway show dedicated to showcasing the work of independent designers in the Rochester area held each year in the heart of the city. Contrived and organized by Tanvi Asher (founder of Peppermint), the show is intended to represent the journey a garment takes from the original design to the stitching of the last final hem. The jewel of this showcase that sparks such a great interest in the community is that each garment seen on the runway was locally designed and hand crafted by the designer, supporting those who independently create for and manage a small business.
Held at Rochester's local trendy hot spot, Restaurant Good Luck, all of the models walking in the show got an early start to the day as they were required to be at the restaurant by 8 a.m. -- as they have done in previous years -- for one of my favorite parts of the organized chaos, hair and make up along with wardrobe preparation. While I wasn't going to be wearing any of the Peppermint designs, I was excited to be wearing none other than that of local sweetheart, Sofie Cerankosky.
Sofie, at the mere age of 16, is one of Rochester's youngest designers and is the youngest to ever have her designs on the Sewn Seeds runway. Sofie is known for her immaculate eye for passing trends and bringing quality to not only her designs, but to her garments themselves. Constructing each garment by hand, her collection for this year's show was full of delicate lace, pastel shades, and delicate floral prints. Featuring items such as the coveted bomber jacket and body suit, Sofie had every twenty-something in the audience wanting more. While she does not currently have an online store, you can direct message her through Instagram to acquire about her designs -- which I'll probably be doing myself very soon!
Sofie's hair and make up was minimal yet bold. Each model graced a near natural face with a drastic lip and the typical Miley Cyrus buns (or Princess Leia, if you will).
Since the line up didn't have Sofie's designs until after intermission, the day was spent laughing along with the other models as well as my photog bestie, Greg Hollar, and munching on the animal crackers that were provided for us. The walk was simple, slow, and steady and Sofie had directed her models to keep a straight face to give the walk a very high fashion aura. And based on the feedback I got from audience members following the show, she got what she was looking for.
Peppermint Sewn Seeds also featured designs from Josean Vargas of J. Vargas Apparel as well as the designs of Tanvi Asher through her boutique and bridal line, Asher Bridal. The show was a huge success and I have heard nothing but great feedback since. Walking for such a local abetting event has been a great privilege and one that I hope to have again next year.

The Making of an Actress: A Work in Progress

Here is the final installment the blog collaboration with my agency, Exxcel Model & Talent, Inc., about my previous trip to LA and the progression of my career. You can find it here on over on Exxcel's blog, Exxcel EDGE.

Be sure to follow Exxcel on Instagram,
Twitter, and Facebook.

https://exxcelblog.wordpress.com/2016/04/01/reflection-a-work-in-progress/

Watching the palm trees above my head as they sway in the breeze, I can’t help but recall the incredible; yet short journey that had helped bring me to the Golden State in the first place. Reminiscing on my first “test” photoshoot coordinated by Exxcel, I was completely unaware at the time of the full magnitude in which my career was headed. I had not yet seen the obvious: my lifelong dreams were quickly becoming a reality and bound for “the fast track”. Working with photographer Udo Spritzenbarth and Celebrity Stylist Ty-Ron Mayes, was one of the most memorable, exciting experiences I have ever had! Coming face-to-face with first class professionals who were part of the team that help to make Tyra Banks; “Tyra”, was in itself fascinating! Being a novice in the industry, that day alone had already surpassed my expectations. At the time, I never imagined that it was only the beginning for an amazing journey to come!
As I continue to rewind and re-cap the events that brought me to where I am now, I am grateful for the encouragement and the opportunities that were given to me through Exxcel Model & Talent. To “dream” is the easy part, but to “do” is much more difficult. The support system and the direction I received from the agency helped pave the way for me to be able to travel from a minuscule town in Upstate New York to major cities like NYC and Los Angeles. Preparation, training and networking are all a vital part of taking the necessary steps to becoming a professional actor.  It was more than evident that I needed to hit the big city in order to accomplish all three. It was in those cities that I actually began to fall in love with my craft. Not to mention how much I enjoyed meeting numerous other talent that were also pursuing the same interests, just as I was. A breath of fresh air and enthusiasm was always around every time we get together as a group.
With every day, week and month that has passed by, I can see the progress I am achieving as my skills are sharpening and my actor’s toolbox is constantly becoming full! This, however, could not be possible without sacrifice and dedication on my part and having the support of Exxcel’s President, Susan Lunetta.
It seems that each time I get a call from Susan, my life just gets a little bit better! The entire Exxcel team has helped me to build a durable foundation by providing me with theframework to succeed.  These lessons, thoughts and ideas I will take with me forever.
I also greatly respect and appreciate the work instilled in me by acting coach Dennis LaValle.  Being able to join in on such a progressive environment where people are truly creating their destiny was almost too good to be true. Meeting his students in training, as well as part of his list of superstar alumni, was to say the least, thrilling! Looking back on it now, it just doesn’t seem real yet. It’s just WOW! My next thought is onward and upward!

The Making of an Actress: Studying to be an Actress

3/31/2016

Picture
Here is the fourth post in collaboration with my agency, Exxcel Model & Talent, Inc., about my previous trip to LA and the progression of my career. You can find it here on over on Exxcel's blog, Exxcel EDGE.

Be sure to follow Exxcel on Instagram,
Twitter, and Facebook.

https://exxcelblog.wordpress.com/2016/03/29/studying-to-be-an-actress/

Dennis always tells his students in the Lavalle Actor’s Workshop to ask themselves two questions every day: What have I done to improve my craft? and What have I done to improve my career? Answering these questions each day, whether it be the smallest little factor, is sure to effect you and your career positively.
Spending time in LA allowed me to answer both of those questions. In class each day, we would do a vocal warm-up, which included some Shakespeare, along with many other tongue twisters. We worked on our scenes, and fine-tuned our craft with other exercises. With the first question answered, what did I do to impact my career? Well, it varied from day to day. I spent one day updating my portfolio and my resumes, the next scoping out the biggest, most well-known studios in LA, and another networking and making friends within the industry or studying my scene on my own time.
My dad and I drove all around Burbank, Studio City, and Universal City looking to see what we could find — and boy, did we hit the jackpot! We were able to check out Warner Brothers Studios, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, and Nickelodeon’s Studios all on
virtually the same road. Seeing the ginormous promotional posters for each show made me realize that the shows I had been watching on television for years happened right behind those walls, and they were real. The thought absolutely blew my mind. As we drove
by each studio, my yearn to be on the other side of those walls grew stronger and stronger.
When we weren’t adventuring around LA, I was at home, studying my scene and making sure I had the words down pat. Each day, three or four times, I would handwrite all of my character’s lines into a notebook which I always carried around with me. After that, I would put my script down and have my dad read the lines opposite to mine. Doing this everyday definitely had a substantial impact on the final result of our scene.
But while there is so much for actors to do for their career in Los Angeles, other areas may keep you a bit limited. Where I live, there are no theater shows to participate in, no auditions to attend, or even any photographers who could help you update your portfolio. But I’ve never been one to let my location limit me. In an area like mine, you can always take it upon yourself to exercise your voice and your body each day, familiarize yourself with some Shakespeare, or even prepare some monologues for those times where you get to venture somewhere that isn’t in the middle of nowhere. Not matter where you are, there are no excuses for not practicing what you love. Each day, you would always do something to benefit your craft and your career, because no matter now small the improvement might be, if you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse.

Be sure to stay tuned for more posts from The Making of an Actress. x
